The ‘Global Electric
Power Tech’ is a top leading exhibition for electric and energy industries in
Korea. This exhibition is visited by 30,000 professional decision makers,

Tech’ is held on May 30 to June 1, 2018
at COEX in South Korea and organized by Korea Electric Engineers
Association, a premier electric power show in Korea where many delegates and
related person from major electric power company visits.
In Korea, most of the orders for
electric power infrastructure are placed by 6 major power company and KEPCO (Korea
Electric Power Corporation), and our show provides an opportunity to meet all
these major businesses. Various indicators about Industrial scenario,
Electrical Market growth and Imports into Korea show excellent signs for
overseas businessmen to look into Korean Market.
(1) Industrial Position
Domestic market is slowly growing
with completion of constructing electrical infrastructures, economic recession
in construction industry, and small growth in electrical power demand. Number
of businesses is slightly increasing since 2010 but the growth rate is not very
high. Domestic demand is showing stagnation due to economic recession in
housing construction and shipbuilding, decrease in transmission equipment
supply from Korean Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO). Despite the weak domestic
demand, the entire amount of production is maintaining the average level with
steady increase in export volume. The number of employees in electrical industry
is over 0.1 million as of 2012 and is increasing with annual average rate of
3.2%. However, with industrial characteristics of small orders, the number of
employees per company is not very big.

(2) Industrial Trend
The entire scale of market in
electrical equipment industry is increasing with annual average rate of 0.4%
since 2011, showing a stable condition and the size of the market is at 51 trillion
won by the end of 2016. With the amount of production at 39 trillion won,
amount of export 1103.8 million USD, and amount of import 1045 million USD, the
market is showing around 600 million USD trade surplus. After 2011, the amount
of export increased up to annual average of 12.1%, amount of import up to 6.0%
and percentage of export and import has overtaken 30% respectively.

(3) Import Trend
The amount of import on electrical
equipment shows 10.450 million USD as of the end of 2016 which also shows
increase with annual average of 6.0% each year since 2011. By main items, while
import rate on industrial electric equipment is large, the increase rate is
slowing down and import demand on power equipment and electricity parts is on
steady increase. By regions, Asia region takes 67% of the entire income and
rate of dependence on imports from Europe and North America is tending to
increase.

Our exhibition’s
category is divided into 5 sections; Electric Power Facility Tech, Smart Grid
Tech, Electric Power Generation Plant Tech, LED Light Tech and Special Pavilion
